About the Environmental Innovation Division

At the 2008 Canada-Wide Science Fair in Ottawa, an exciting new interdisciplinary division will hold its first competition. YSF Canada’s new Environmental Innovation [EI] division, presented by VIA Rail, is a challenge to tackle important environmental issues by combining the skills of an artist with those of a scientist. For the first time, Canada’s young artists will be welcomed into the fair as collaborators with our country’s top young scientists! Top projects from the EI division will be showcased at VIA Rail’s larger venture, EnviroExpo.

PLEASE NOTE!
While the Environmental Innovation division and the EnviroExpo Special Awards are similar in many ways, there are important differences in some of the entrance and eligibility criteria. The EnviroExpo Special Awards are open to students competing at regional science fairs that offer the award. The Environmental Innovation division is open to students who have qualified for the Canada-Wide Science Fair. Winning an EnviroExpo Special Award does not secure a place at the CWSF or automatically enter the project in the EI division. Make sure that you read the criteria carefully and check with your teachers or fair officials if you have any questions!
