Release #20-28

Subject: COVID 19 Update - Dorset Recreation Centre Update, Dorset Library Depot and Fall/Winter Events

The Township of Algonquin Highlands remains under a declared State of Emergency.

The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group continues to meet to continue its assessment of the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation and its potential effects on Algonquin Highlands.

NEW INFORMATION

1. Update on Dorset Recreation Centre

The Dorset Recreation Centre’s fitness related facilities remain closed until further notice. The Township continues to work to develop re-opening plans which will address the multitude of provincial guidelines for operating during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to open our facility safely and in accordance with provincial guidelines, building improvements related to health and safety of patrons and improved air circulation are required. Once the building improvements are completed, the Emergency Operations Group will once again assess the safety of staff, the public, and the status of the pandemic prior to reopening.

We understand the important role that recreation plays in people’s lives and look forward to welcoming everyone back to the centre when it is safe to do so.

2. Dorset Library Depot
