The Township of Algonquin Highlands remains under a declared State of Emergency.

The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group met earlier today to continue its assessment of the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation and its potential effects on Algonquin Highlands.

Updates from today’s meeting include information on the opening of Campsite Reservations associated with the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails.

NEW INFORMATION

1. Backcountry campsites associated with the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails will open on June 16, 2020. Reservations will be accepted online or through the call centre only and can be made starting on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to and provincial group size restrictions are limited to a maximum of 5 people, unless they are from the same household.

The trails office located at the St. Nora Lake access point at 20130 Highway 35 will remain closed to the public, no in-person transactions or interactions with staff are possible, and no equipment rentals will be available until further notice.
