Subject: Township of Algqonquin Highlands COVID 19 Update - Provincial Emergency Declaration - Stay at Home Order
The Township of Algonquin Highlands remains under a declared State of Emergency.
The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group met following the Provincial Emergency Declaration and Stay at Home Order announcement.
As a result of these discussions, interaction with all staff will continue to be limited to telephone and email, in person meetings will not be available during the Provincial Emergency Declaration – Stay at Home Order. Note: Appointments will only be considered where deemed vital and specific to essential services

NEW INFORMATION:
Parks Recreation and Trails
- Parks, Recreation & Trails amenities that continue to operate:
- Frost Centre Cross Country Ski trails
- Algonquin Highlands Hiking/Snowshoe Trails (excluding the Dorset Tower trail which remains closed)
- Outdoor rinks in Stanhope and Dorset.
- Virtual (on-line) recreation programming such as yoga, ladies toning, book club, coffee and conversation, and others. Call 705-766-9968 for information.
Building/By-Law Department
- Field inspections will continue, for permits that were issued prior to the Emergency Declaration, and at staff’s discretion, where appropriate distancing and hygiene protocols can be maintained.
- Application forms pertaining to this department continue to be available online.
- Building permit applications will be accepted for review, however no new permits will be issued until further notice
Finance Department
- Penalty and Interest on property taxes will be waived until further notice. Tax payments continue to be accepted as follows;
- Online through your financial institution
- Via telephone banking
- At your financial branch (please check with your local branch for hours)
- Cheques may be mailed or deposited in the secure drop box located on the front porch of the Township office (absolutely no cash is to be deposited in the drop box)
Library Services
- The Dorset Library book drop service will be available by appointment by calling 705-766-9968
Public Works - Landfills
- Dorset Lions Bottle Drive held at the Dorset Transfer Station will continue.
Public WiFi Locations
- Public Wi-Fi hotspots remain available at the following locations;
- Stanhope Public Library
- Stanhope, Dorset and Oxtongue Community Centres
- Stanhope Municipal Airport
- Township Office at 1123 North Shore Road
