COVID-19 Update Re: Recreational Facilities, Outdoor Ice Rinks, Building Inspections and Office Closures
The Algonquin Highlands Emergency Control Group met to continue its assessment of the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation and its potential effects on Algonquin Highlands.
Recreational Facilities
As a result of the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, and Provincial Regulations the Township’s previous decision to reopen Community Centres in Stanhope and Oxtongue Lake has been postponed until further notice.
Outdoor Rinks
Stanhope Gardens is currently open and the Dorset Ice Palace will be open as soon as possible depending on weather. Check the webpage for rink status and conditions throughout the winter.
The rinks will be open based on the Provincial Government and the Haliburton, Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit COVID-19 regulations. Failure to follow these regulations, and/or receipt of complaints of non-compliance related to these regulations may result in the closure of the rinks.
Requests for Building Inspections
The Building Department will continue to conduct building inspections upon request subject to the following requirements:
- Anyone in the building during the inspection must be wearing a mask and practice social distancing; or
- Anyone not wearing a mask must leave the building until the Township Building Officials have completed their inspection and left the building, or relocate to another area of the building where no inspections will be occurring and no contact will be made with the Building Officials.
The inability or refusal to adhere to this safety measure may result in the inspection being cancelled and rescheduled to a time when compliance with the requirements can be met.
Reminders:
Municipal Office Closures
