Total Fire Ban

Effective at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, there will be a total fire ban within the Township of Algonquin Highlands, and throughout the County of Haliburton. This means no outdoor burning any time of day. Active daytime burning permits will be suspended until further notice. The ban will remain in effect for a minimum of a week.

Bonfires, fireworks and the lighting of charcoal barbecues are prohibited. Violating the ban will result in fines. In Algonquin Highlands, this entails being charged with the costs of deploying Algonquin Highlands Fire Services.

The ban is being implemented through a joint decision of the County’s four Chief Fire Officials and is supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
